The E14 lampholder is the smallest lampholder within the family of lampholders. The number '14' stands for the inner diameter of the lampholder, which is 14 mm. Only an E14 lampholder light source with a lamp base of 14 mm wide fits. The 'E' stands for the inventor of the (incandescent) lamp: Thomas Edison.
